# Components:
→ Pastry
01 - 2 sheets (17.6 oz) ready-made puff pastry, thawed
02 - 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
→ Apple Filling
03 - 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
04 - 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
05 - 1 tablespoon brown sugar
06 - 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
07 - 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
08 - 1 teaspoon lemon juice
09 - 1 teaspoon cornstarch
→ Decoration (Optional)
10 - Pearl sugar or coarse sanding sugar
11 - Icing made from powdered sugar mixed with a little milk
# Directions:
01 - Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - In a medium bowl, combine diced apples with granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Set aside.
03 - Roll out puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Using a mitten-shaped cookie cutter or a paper template and a sharp knife, cut out 16 mitten shapes.
04 - Place 8 mitten shapes on the prepared baking sheet. Spoon a heaping tablespoon of apple filling onto the center of each, leaving a border around the edges.
05 - Brush edges of each pastry base with beaten egg. Top with a second mitten cutout and press edges firmly with a fork to seal.
06 - Brush tops with egg wash. Optionally, sprinkle with pearl sugar or sanding sugar for added texture.
07 - Cut a small vent in the top of each pie with a knife. Bake for 20 to 22 minutes until golden and puffed.
08 - Allow pies to cool slightly. If desired, drizzle with icing made from powdered sugar and milk.
