01 - 2 cups whole milk
02 - 1/2 cup granulated sugar
03 - 1/4 cup cornstarch
04 - 1/4 teaspoon salt
05 - 2 large egg yolks
06 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
07 - 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
→ Topping
08 - 10 Oreo cookies, crushed
09 - Whipped cream (optional)
# Directions:
01 - In a medium saucepan, whisk together milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt until smooth.
02 - Place over medium heat and cook, whisking constantly, until mixture thickens and bubbles, about 5 to 7 minutes.
03 - In a small bowl, whisk egg yolks. Gradually whisk about 1/2 cup of the hot milk mixture into the yolks to temper.
04 - Pour the yolk mixture back into the saucepan, whisking continuously. Cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until thickened.
05 - Remove from heat and stir in unsalted butter and vanilla extract until fully incorporated and smooth.
06 - Divide pudding into serving glasses or bowls. Allow to cool at room temperature for 10 minutes or refrigerate for at least 1 hour if chilling is preferred.
07 - Sprinkle crushed Oreos over the pudding just before serving and add whipped cream if desired.
